Over 40 students attended the session, eager to gain insights into legal careers and beyond. Shauna Arnold, Careers Guidance and Employability Skills Manager at London Met, highlighted why events like this are so valuable:

Exploring the Versatility of a Law Degree
During the session, Jenny emphasised the broad applications of a law degree, explaining that legal education provides transferable skills - critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication—that are valuable in business, technology, consultancy, and other fields.
She also addressed common misconceptions about legal careers, reassuring students that there are multiple entry routes beyond the traditional training contract. She encouraged attendees to seek internships, apprenticeships, and work experience to enhance their employability and refine their career goals.
“Many students believe a law degree only leads to becoming a solicitor or barrister, but in reality, the skills you develop can be applied across a variety of industries," Jenny explained. "Employers are not just looking for strong academics; they value candidates who can demonstrate commercial awareness, resilience, and adaptability.”
Jenny also spoke about the evolving nature of the legal industry, stressing that those who embrace innovation and adaptability will have an advantage:
